Three years ago, WAFA was relegated from the Ghana Premier League, which meant competing in Ghana’s Division One League. But since our club was registered in the Central Region, we were required to play our league matches at our former grounds in Fetteh.

This resulted in a 3.5-hour round trip for every home game — a logistical burden that made long-term planning difficult. To bring football closer to our home base in the Volta Region, we made a strategic decision: we acquired the license of a Division Two club, allowing us to compete from Sogakope, the heart of our academy.

This meant taking a step further down voluntarily — to Ghana’s Division Two League — but it enabled us to train and compete in our own environment, in front of our community.

Now, after two seasons of hard work and development, we’re delighted to announce that WAFA has been promoted back to Division One!

This promotion comes at the perfect time, as our next generation of players — aged 16 to 18 — continues to grow in skill and confidence. With the added bonus of a brand-new artificial pitch, we are fully prepared and motivated for the new season.

We look forward to an exciting campaign and continued development of Ghana’s future football stars.
